Societe Generale: Improve Internal Online Auction Experience

Societe Generale has a long-established history of supporting charities in the UK. In 2015, the bank’s UK staff chose to support mental health charity, Mind with a commitment to raise £600,000 across a two-year period. Employees participated in cycle challenges, a dragon boat race and a midnight marathon walk around London to help meet the target, raising a tremendous £750,000, far exceeding their initial target.

As part of their fundraising, the bank also ran staff Christmas auctions to help to boost funds. In 2015 Societe Generale asked GivGo, a specialist online fundraising tool, to revamp their internal auction site.

“We selected GivGo for many reasons, such as the ability to fully customise the site to reflect our corporate image, and the functionality far exceeded what we were using previously. Additionally, the security of the software met our strict internal requirements. Feedback from staff was that the site looked great and was incredibly user-friendly.

Having access to the back-end of the site was also fantastic, it allowed us to make quick changes to lot items and track bids. We were able to monitor which areas of the business were engaging most with the auction, allowing us to tailor our comms and encourage more traffic to the site, increasing the number of bids overall.” Jenny Cowan, Head of CSR, Societe Generale.
